1950 Census Easy Tip: Sign Up for “Searchable” Notification

This is a short post about the 1950 census that was released on April 1, 2022.

Right now, the 1950 census is not indexed or “searchable”, but on Ancestry you can sign-up to receive notification about the state or territory you are interested in has been indexed.

All you need to do is sign into your Ancestry account and if you do not have an account, you can create one for free.

After signing into Ancestry:

  • Scroll down to the 1950 Census district finder.
  • Click Explore maps
  • In the top-right corner, select the menu (three dots) and then choose Notify me.
  • Enter your email address and select the location(s) you’re interested in.
  • Select Notify me.

Watch this short video on how easy it is to sign up for index email notification.
